Goodness Breakfast with the HOW Foundation

We have been very fortunate to partner with the HOW Foundation, going back to the Festival of Cricket that we staged in March 2014 sponsored by the OYOB Real Estate company, from which they were able to generate the kind of funding required as the principal sponsor for the 3rd Edition of the Murali Harmony Cup Tournament held across 5 venues in the North of Sri Lanka bringing together 16 boys teams and 8 girls teams in order to promote rural cricket and develop reconciliation between communities separated by years of civil conflict.

From there, the partnership developed into another level where, once they saw how the project was delivering the expected outcomes, they were really enthusiastic to come onboard and continue supporting the Foundation of Goodness for the 4th edition of the Murali Harmony Cup Tournament (to be held in 2015) by donating a larger sum, whereby they would become, more or less, the exclusive sponsor for the event.

It was in this spirit that they organized the Goodness Breakfast in Melbourne, Australia, to coincide with the 2015 Cricket World Cup. The event was hosted at the Langham Hotel, Melbourne, with cricketing legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena (who are also on the FoG Board of Trustees) in attendance as the guests of honor. It was exclusively OYOB that sponsored everything, to create awareness and to also bring about the kind of action resulting in great results, and they have to be applauded for their special effort to foster reconciliation, unity, goodwill and harmony between the North and the rest of the country.

FoG is fortunate to strike such an effective partnership and is made stronger by the collective strength that has been developed in making a difference towards greater reconciliation and building bridges of friendship and unity in Sri-Lanka.

The night ended with a cheque presentation from Lanka Graphite to the Foundation of Goodness, handed over by the directors of Lanka Graphite, Jitto Arulampalam and Emily Lee.

A special thank you goes out to Jitto Arulampalam and Dhilharan Sivaratnam who worked very hard to make this happen, along with Alice Su for her dedication in organizing the event and the rest of the team, Patrick Ng, Aynkaran Sivaratnam, Kosala Premaratne and Frank Boteju.

Each one of us can make a change, and collectively we can make a difference!
